Fundamental Motor Skills for Grade 1

Fundamental Motor Skills for Grade 1

1. Running

Running is a fundamental motor skill that involves moving quickly on your feet. When you run, your feet take turns touching the ground, and your arms swing back and forth to help you move faster. Think of running like a fast walk, but with more energy and excitement.

Imagine you are a cheetah chasing after a toy. You need to run fast to catch it! Start by standing tall, then lift one foot off the ground and push forward with the other. Keep switching your feet quickly, and remember to swing your arms to help you go even faster.

2. Jumping

Jumping is another important motor skill where you push off the ground with your feet to go up in the air. It’s like you’re trying to touch the sky with your hands! To jump, bend your knees first, then push hard with your legs to lift yourself off the ground.

Think of jumping like a frog leaping from one lily pad to another. When a frog wants to jump, it bends its legs and then springs up into the air. You can practice jumping by bending your knees and then pushing off the ground as hard as you can. See how high you can go!

Remember, running and jumping are fun ways to stay active and strong. Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be as fast as a cheetah and as bouncy as a frog!
